Viña Cono Sur at Chengdu Food & Drinks Fair

Cono Sur participated in the 100th edition of Chengdu Food & Drinks Fair. Cono Sur Within the Most Admired Wine Brands of the World

The British magazine Drinks International placed Cono Sur as number 11 in its annual ranking of the most valued wine brands of the world. Cono Sur, competed with traditional brands like Torres, Penfolds and Villa Maria. This result is even more significant considering that the winery was founded in 1993. Silencio 2013, Chile's Best Red Wine

Silencio Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, was the big winner of the Latin American Wine Guide, being the only wine to obtain 95 points, the highest score of the publication. The guide, that seeks to highlight and promote the best Latin American wines, will be launched internationally this 2019. Alistair Cooper, English wine consultant and Master of Wine since 2017, was commissioned to evaluate 896 wines from Chile, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. Cooper is also part of the jury in the Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine Challenge since 2018, and president of the Catad'Or Wine Awards jury, which is now 24 years old and is the oldest contest in Latin America.   ...

Preliminary Harvest Report

The winter 2018 was rainy, which was very positive for us and for the country, since we had been facing a long period of drought. The spring was cold, which delayed the grape's veraison. This resulted in a longer ripening period and a slower development of the grape's components. The first weeks of February were very warm, with areas that reached up to 40 ° C, but there were only a few days of intense heat. This stressed the grapes just enough to achieve homogeneity between the bunches, higher concentration and better quality. However, the dehydration generated by the heat did not impact this year's yields. In 2019 we should have the same volumes of 2018.
