Pinot Noir Pairings: the keys to an unique experience

When talking about Chilean wines, varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere or Merlot are usually some of the most popular. However, in our country a highly recognized variety is produced all over the world: the Pinot Noir.

It is estimated that the first records of this variety are from the year 1300, and refer to the people´s preference for the Pinot Noir grown in the wine region of Burgundy, France. It has been a long time since then and it still continues to be a favorite among wine lovers.

Without going any further, it is the tenth grape most planted worldwide, it has 16 strains, being the Chilean one of the most valued.

In Chile, this variety stands out for being expressive, elegant and fresh, resulting in an exquisite wine of undeniable class, with aromas of red fruits, flowers and spices that are accentuated by its long and soft finish. Undoubtedly, one of the most valued varieties in the world for its quality.

About the Pinot Noir wine pairings

Pinot Noir is a versatile wine due to its high acidity and a medium-low level of tannins. In its aroma, you can appreciate the red fruit and spicy notes that make it the ideal companion for delicate flavors such as:

  • Fish
  • Chicken
  • Duck
  • Mushrooms
  • Soft cheeses

Pinot Noir goes really well with salmon burgers, for example, a delicious and easy to make recipe that gets even better when paired with a wine of this variety. The goal is to achieve a perfect balance between the recipe and the wine, where the dish and the beverage have the same level of relevance and expression. You must consider that the stronger the dish, the stronger the wine should be, hence the highly seasoned meats are better accompanied with reds with more body and some aging in barrel.

We recommend chilling your Pinot Noir to 14°C, and preferably use a glass that has a wide bottom and a top that is a bit smaller, but still quite wide, so that the drink passes directly to the sides of the tongue, where we can appreciate its acidity.

There are Pinot Noir of all categories, ranging from varietals to premium. We invite you to discover all the faces of this variety customizing each experience with the right food pairing.
